IACIS conference 2007
The association’s 2007 conference was held at Philadelphia University near Amman in Jordan, 11-13 June. The event drew together scholars of Iraq from around the world, including a substantial delegation of Iraqi academics representing Basra University, Baghdad University, Tikrit University, Mustansiriyya University, Bayt al-Hikma and the Iraqi Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Conference panels discussed a wide range of subjects, including refugee studies, contemporary Iraqi society, the economy, cultural survival, the history of Iraqi cities during the first British occupation, US-Iraqi relations, and the regional impact of the current crisis in Iraq.
